About us

The University of Lodz (UL) boasts over 70 years of history and currently serves nearly 26,000 students across more than 90 fields of study. The UL is actively involved in over 70 international research projects, including 10 initiatives within the Horizon Program, as well as projects co-financed by EU funds and other grant providers.

The Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Rehabilitation is the oldest department of social pedagogy in Poland, established in 1945. It is a proud member of EASSW, IASSW, and ERIS. The department’s main research areas include issues related to homelessness and social exclusion, disadvantaged neighbourhoods, foster care, strategies for integrated urban redevelopment, and social and epistemic justice. Its particular expertise lies in Participatory Action Research, Political Social Work, Youth Work, Social Education, and Community Development.

Our Role in YOUROPE

The University of Lodz (UL) serves as the general coordinator of the Yourope project. In addition to working closely with all Work Package (WP) leads and consortium members to oversee the project, UL is responsible for leading WP1.

The University of Lodz brings to the project its extensive experience in managing international initiatives, as well as its expertise in socio-educational work with young people at risk of social exclusion and its proficiency in participatory research methodologies.
